Ingredients

  • 1 CanCondensed Milk
  • 40 gSalted Butter
  • 85 gDesiccated Coconut
  • 210 gCaster Sugar
  • 115 mlWater
  • 1 tspLemon Juice

We saw these online as had to try them! Bala Baiana or Coconut Bon Bons are so easy to make and taste delicious! Just 3 ingredients are needed to make the Bon Bons and they taste great with or without the sugar shell.

Method

  • Heat the condensed milk, coconut and butter over medium heat for about 10 minutes until the mixture begins to come together when stirred.
  • Transfer the mixture to a bowl and refrigerate it for 30 to 60 minutes. Then roll it into small balls.
  • Place a small saucepan over medium heat and add sugar, water, and lemon. Simmer until the sugar turns golden amber. For extra flavor we've added lemon rind to the mix but that is completely optional!
  • Dip the balls into the caramel and let them set for a few minutes. Be careful, the caramel is extremely hot and cools quickly.
  • What do you think of the recipe?
