These strawberry filled tarts are the easiest treat to throw together this halloween, 3 ingredients and looks so effective. So stick on that scary movie, carve up that shortcrust pastry and enjoy one of these sweet treats. Jason approved.
Preheat oven to 200ºC. Lay out a shortcrust pastry sheet, then using a plastic cream cheese tub lid cut out 6 shapes.
On 3 of them cut out two circles for the eyes, then using the end of a straw cut out the rest of the holes to create the mask pattern.
Take the strawberries and chop off the tip to use later for the 'nose'. Dice the remanding strawberries.
Spread jam over the centers of the other 3 pastry cutouts after wetting the edges with a little water. Place a strawberry tip in the center then sprinkle over diced strawberries.
Place the 'mask' pieces on top then press down the sides. Brush over with egg wash, finish with a sprinkle of sugar then place carefully on a lined baking sheet.
Bake for 15 to 20 mins, or until the tarts are golden brown.
