Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Get ready to raise your steins in the air, because Oktoberfest is back, and the fun goes far beyond its home in Germany.

Yep, it may have been born in Munich, but those who aren’t lucky enough to fly out to the world’s biggest beer festival this year can still celebrate the events right here in the UK.

There are tons of restaurants and bars serving beers, hiring oompah bands and knocking out German food aplenty to mark the occasion.

Wherever you are based, there’s bound to be an event waiting to say ‘willkommen’ – but with so many options, we thought we’d focus on some of the Oktoberfest events in our capital.

If it’s great beer and excellent food you’re after, in a slightly more up market setting, then Spiritland is the place to go.

The cafe and high-fi bar is teaming up with Braybrooke Brewery, 10 Greek Street and Biercraft to put on a supper club on the South Bank.

Dishes will include the likes of roast ham hocks in a wort gaze and a celeriac schnitzel for veggies, whilst a smoked sausage ragu with spatzle will also sit on the menu.

Once you’ve eaten a proper German feast, enjoy beers from Hackney’s 40 Food Brewery and Battersea’s Mondo, with DEYA Brewing Co also on the steiners. Then, stay for DJs including IDLES’ Joe Talbot and Primal Scream’s Simone Marie on the decks until 2am.

You can reserve a table here.

Wunderbar Oktoberfest

Wunderbar is taking place at Pergola Paddington in west London throughout October. So drop by for German beer and Bavarian snacks aplenty.

You might know Pergola as a rooftop bar in summer, but for October it has transformed into an Oktoberfest London beerhall, with oompah bands, flower cannons and blaring horns.

The bar will be honouring the event with what they are calling Fantastisch Fridays every Friday from 4.30pm – an event in which they’ll serve Oktoberfest cocktails and Wunder Beer – and by throwing a German bottomless brunch on Saturdays.

As for food? You’ll be able to get your hands on a Berliner Currywurst and a Bratwurst Baguette from Filth and Co, a burger joint that resides on the Pergola grounds.

Steins and beers will naturally also be on the menu alongside Bavarian-style street food from a number of the traders at both Boxpark branches.

The celebration comes as part of a collaboration between Boxpark and Czech brewer Staropramen, and throughout the festivities  jugs and steins available at the bar, guaranteeing anOktoberfest celebration like no other.

On top of the food and drink, you can expect Bavarian games, stilt-walkers, and lederhosen galore.

Kraft Dalston is bringing Oktoberfest to east London in mid-October, and you can celebrate with German-style beers and Korean-German fusion food from Korean restaurant, Seoul in a Bottle.

A modern take on the Bavarian Village celebration, the evening is set to start off with “cosy oompah music” and then as more steins are swigged, things will turn into a right German knees up…were talking blaring German 80’s classics and Berlin style techno.

With German beers like Helles, Zwickel Lager and Hefeweizen available to order, alongside two special new releases – an Amber Oktoberfest Lager and Dry Hopped Doppel Pils – you can order 1 litre Mass or ‘stein’ tankards or opt for a tasting flight of the lot.

Whether you’re looking to celebrate Oktoberfest London or not, you can’t go wrong with good beer and Korean fusion food. You can get a ticket here.

To celebrate properly, there will be six German beers on draught, as well as homemade stein cocktails, classic Bavarian drinks and mocktails, too.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, join for a Bavarian boogie with live oompah bands and DJs.
