McDonald’s US launches new spicy Jalapeño Egg McMuffin

McDonald’s menus around the world always send us into a fit of jealousy.

Whether it’s India’s paneer burger or Japan’s carbonara fries, there are too many bangers we’re heartbroken that we’ll never get to try.

But given that we’re particularly partial to a Maccies breakfast, here at Twisted, this next one hit hard.

You can now buy a Cheesy Jalapeño Egg McMuffin in the US, and it sounds like the breakfast pick me up we never knew we needed.

The spicy new menu addition is only available for a super limited time (and in very select locations) but we can confidently predict it’s going to be a hit.

According to Chew Boom, the Cheesy Jalapeño Sausage Egg McMuffin is currently retailing in select locations within Louisiana and Texas (and there are Reddit rumours you can get ’em in Southern California, too). It’s all very hush, hush.

The breakfast addition is available until August 13th, and comes stuffed with the usual hot sausage patty, fresh jalapeño slices, melty American cheese and an egg, stuffed into an English muffin.

Now, before we all start despairing that we’ll never get to try this beauty, let’s just remember that Maccies often try out their products in select locations before taking them natonwide, or even global.

They then judge the response of these areas and decide whether the dish is scaleable.

The exciting news is the jalapeño sauce can actually be added to other breakfast items, too. Hash browns dunked in jalapeño sauce? No problemo.

McDonald’s are yet to confirm this, to be clear, but it’s all over Reddit and people have had success asking for the customisation so far.

Ugh. Now we need to try this even more…

Americans are in luck, as the spicy cheese sauce is also making it onto the daytime menu, in the form of a Cheesy Jalapeño Bacon Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

Oooft – we love a menu item with the word cheese in it twice. 

McDonald’s dubs the burger a “spicier, cheesier take” on your typical Quarter Pounder with Cheese, featuring an additional dollop of creamy cheddar cheese sauce and pickled jalapeño slices.

This dropped yesterday on menus across the US (July 10th), but will also be super limited, so go, go, go!

UK Maccies bosses, we hope you’re listening. We’re ready and waiting for our cheesy jalapeño fix, too.
