Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

We’re all for novelty food and drink here at Twisted. Give us a sandwich made out of pickles or a cocktail infused with American burger cheese and we’re gonna be all over it.

But how do you feel about a chocolate mousse that’s been constructed in the shape of a dog? Let’s just say we’re not barking mad about it.

The puppy shaped mousse is from the folks at No 79 Coffee and Mousse in London’s Soho, and it’s so lifelike that we genuinely don’t think we could eat it.

Don’t believe us? Check it out for yourselves:

Created to look like a shar-pei dog, with a life-like ‘fur’ texture and wrinkles galore, the pooch is made with a 3D mould which is filled with your typical chocolate mousse ingredients which are then frozen, so they set in place.

And doesn’t it look the spitting image of an actual pup?

The cafe aren’t the first to make a dog shaped mousse. In fact, it’s a bit of a trend over in Asia, with tons of cafes in Taiwan and China creating their own versions which have gone viral on social media.

Now, the trend has made it over to the UK, so we can experience the super lifelike mousse cakes for ourselves.

But do we actually want to?

“This feels illegal to watch,” wrote one food blogger as they shared a video of someone taking a scoop out of the chocolatey dog.

Meanwhile, another Instagram user wrote: “This looks so so so wrong on so many levels”.

“Omg that looks unbelievably realistic. I couldn’t eat it,” echoed a third.

As a fourth wrote: “This gonna give me nightmares”.

Despite any reservations, there were others whose chocolate addictions trumped any guilt they may have felt about slicing into the doggos.

“They taste soooo good,” wrote one person who had recently munched on one of the mousses.

So, what do you think? Would you eat a puppy shaped mousse? It looks like the jury is still out on this one…
