Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

A Subway employee has found a way to shock the internet by revealing the hidden secrets at the heart of our favourite fast food sandwich chain.

In a clip posted to TikTok, user @Travis2official gave some seriously stomach-churning insight behind the scenes at a Subway kitchen.

Needless to say, the results are pretty explosive. There’s a reason why most of us don’t want to know how the sausage gets made.

What Subway meat actually looks like

In a trio of alarming clips, @Travis2official lays bare exactly what customers are really eating when they sit down to a Subway sandwich.

The videos, which have accrued a whopping 9 million views between them, focus on steak, tuna and teriyaki chicken. Unsurprisingly, the origins of all three are murky, to say the least.

Video number one, showcasing steak, has so far garnered the most attention of the three. In the clip, filmed behind the scenes at a Subway store, @Travis2official unpacks what seems to be a solid brown meaty lump.

This block is then broken apart by hand, leaving vaguely steaky shards in a Subway serving container. The end result is decidedly unappetising.

@Travis2official second video takes a similarly close look at the chain’s tuna. In this clip, the TikTok user actually takes viewers through the whole process, pouring industrial quantities of mayo onto pink splinters of fish.

Finally, @Travis2official reveals the hidden secrets behind Subway’s beloved chicken teriyaki. Unfortunately for fans, this involves blocks of chicken bits mixing with a sticky brown sauce.

It’s safe to say that all three videos don’t do anything for the appetite.

‘TikTok ruins fast food for me’

Unsurprisingly, fans has been left pretty horrified by the TikTok video.

The original clip, which features Subway’s so-called steak, has generated an extraordinary 8 million views. At the time of writing, there are almost 20,000 angry comments under the video.

One viewer wrote, “TikTok ruins fast food for me”.

Another added: “U did not need to show this.” The comments currently have a combined like total of around 3,000.

However, despite the horror on display, some fans are pretty dismissive of the video. For instance, several claimed that they still found the food delicious, regardless of what it might look like.

Another sarcastically commented, “Y’all expect them to have a cow in the back?”

Clearly, despite the dodgy origins, people aren’t going to be put off eating Subway any time soon.
