TikTok claims putting your crisps in the freezer makes them taste nicer

Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Remember when we told you about the TikTok trend which involved putting your Kinder Bueno chocolate bar in the freezer, so it turned into a sort of makeshift ice cream?

Now that was something we could get behind.

But now people are bizarrely doing the same thing with crisps… yup, we raised an eyebrow, too.

After the excitement behind the frozen chocolate trend, TikTokers @stenic1 (Stephen and Nicola) have turned things savoury, popping a bag of Walkers Cheese and Onion crisps in the freezer before eating them.

Watch their verdict below:

The pair didn’t specify how long they put the crisps in the freezer for, but we’d say a couple of hours will do.

Upon taking the bag out and trying a crisp each, they both look sceptically at each other before nodding and concurring that the snack was actually pretty tasty.

They told followers that the crisps “still have lots of flavour,” adding: “It’s a yes from us”.

And believe it or not, loads of people flocked to the replies to say that they had been freezing their crisps for years.

“Oh my god I love nothing more they crisps from the fridge or freezer,” said one.

Whilst another agreed: “My Nan has always kept her lays chips in the freezer, she swears by it”.

“I copped this at a young age,” said somebody else.

“Cold crisps are actually amazing,” a fourth chimed in, as a fifth wrote: “Wait until you try it with cool original Doritos”.

There were some who were more sceptical, of course.

“Wouldn’t it be soggy?,” asked one, to which the duo replied that, surprisingly, they weren’t.

Whilst another wrote: “Why tho…”

In truth, the only merit we could imagine from frozen crisps was that they would taste… refreshingly cold?

Trying TikTok frozen crisps

Intrigued by the online furore, we thought we’d try them for ourselves, and we’re here to report that, unsurprisingly, they taste exactly like, well, frozen crisps.

Despite claims on TikTok, we found the flavour was basically no different, and whilst there was an additional crunch and a chill on the tongue, that was basically about it.

Would we freeze crisps again? Probably not, but who are we to begrudge people eating crisps however they please…
