Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

We thought we’d come across pigs in blankets in pretty much every form. We’ve been flogged spicy ones, ones with a side of fondue and even extra-long ones stuffed into a giant Yorkshire Pudding.

But now we’ve officially seen it all, because Five Guys has announced the launch of a pigs in blankets flavoured milkshake.

Yep, you read that correctly.

The piggy milkshake is joining as a limited Christmas addition to Five Guys’ UK menu, and is described as being both sweet and salty, like many good culinary delicacies, from salted caramel to peanut butter and jelly.

Starting from £5.45 and available nationwide from now until Boxing Day, the drink is made by mixing their usual milkshake with three rashers of bacon and sprinkling more crispy fried bacon on top.

It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s no denying that the drink has caught people’s attention online, whether for good or for bad.

“Ummmm…. thanks but no,” said one person on Instagram, after Five Guys announced the new arrival.

“Please say u joking?,” commented a third.

However, others were willing to give it a go, with one writing: “If this is real need to try this hahahha”.

As another said: “Yes , this is what five guys is all about”.

A spokesperson for the burger chain said: “With over 40 million Pigs in Blankets packets sold every year, to say that the nation is obsessed with the festive treat would be a complete understatement, which is why Five Guys have dedicated their brand new, limited edition Christmas Milkshake to the much-loved pork dish.

“Made up of three rashers of bacon, mixed into the signature Five Guys milkshake base, the ‘Pigs in Blankets’ shake is the perfect balance between sweet and salty.

“Not only that, but the additional blended bacon bits add a much-enjoyed crunchy texture to the dessert… something you might never have thought you needed before!”
