The wait is over, McDonald's fans!

You can now get the fast food giant's iconic Grimace shake in UK branches, for a very limited time.

The purple drink is only available from today (Wednesday 28th August) to 3rd September.

Costing £2.69, or £2.99 for a large drink, it features a blueberry flavoured syrup blended with a creamy milkshake base - and not only does that sound like it would taste banging, it looks so pretty, too!

The shake is already a phenomenon overseas, but now you can get your hands on it here – a little present from UK Maccies to you, to mark the fast food giant's 50th birthday.

As well as visiting restaurants in the UK, you can also get in on the Grimace hype through the McDonald’s app, at the Drive-Thru, or via McDelivery.

The shake first debuted in the US back in June 2023, and sucked people in with its eye-catching purple aesthetic and blueberry notes.

It was also a hit in McDonald's Canada stores, when it launched in May.

It's a tribute to lesser known Maccies mascot, Grimace, who is a milkshake thief, designed to look like the embodiment of the stuff he's trying to nick.

The old saying goes that Grimace is Ronald McDonald's best friend, and while he was initially branded as 'Evil Grimace' went on to become loveable and clumsy.

You can now get your hands on the drink from one of 1,450 of McDonald's UK restaurants, so there's bound to be one near you, if you're from this neck of the woods.

McDonald's mascots might be long forgotten over here, but the hype around the Grimace shake is still palpable.

This isn't the only exciting new from McDonald's, which is also bringing back its Monopoly game in the next few weeks.

The game will give customers a chance to win a bunch of prizes, and of course there will be some new food to celebrate, too. Find more details of that here.
