Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Got some leftover Hot Cross Buns lying around the house? Looking to try something new for your Easter spread?

Well, everyone on TikTok is making Hot Cross Bun chips and they’re the Easter innovation we need in our lives.

The recipe is really simple, and it offers a quirky twist on everyone’s favourite seasonal snack.

There are loads of versions of this recipe on the internet, but our fave might come from TikTok food blogger, @victoriaminell.

You can watch her vid below:

What you end up with is basically like chips and ketchup, but instead the chips are switched for sticks of Hot Cross Bun, and the ketchup is swapped with Nutella, or whatever dipping sauce you like, really.

In the clip, Victoria can be seen to chop her Hot Cross Buns into fingers and cover them in melted butter and cinnamon sugar before baking in the oven for eight to 10 minutes at 180 degrees, so they’re lightly crisp.

Then, she gives them a final sprinkle of sugar and dunks away into a bowl of melted Nutella. Dreamy.

There are lots of takes on Hot Cross Bun chips online but the recipe is more or less the same throughout, and what makes them so popular is how easy they are.

“Yum they look so good,” said one person in the comments.

Whilst another gushed that the TikToker was “an actual genius.”

“We need this for midnight snacks,” a third commented, tagging a pal.

As a fourth echoed their sentiments, suggesting they’d be brilliant “with ice cream.”

Ooof.

Elsewhere on TikTok, you can see people making the same recipe with an air fryer (air fryer crew, where you at?!).

If Hot Cross Buns aren’t your thing, the Easter fun doesn’t stop there.

Got some excess Easter eggs lying around? You can also get inventive with them, if you so desire.

Yup, people are stuffing their Easter eggs with cheesecake, and it’s another genius social media recipe we very much support.

You can read more about how to do that here, and all the ways you can jazz up that recipe.
