A lot of us remember throwing birthday parties at McDonald's as kids – a few might even have had a Maccies birthday more recently.

But did you know that the Golden Arches actually sell birthday cakes?

Yup, feast your eyes on this...

Videos on TikTok have been floating around showing the McDonald's cakes since early 2021.

The cakes apparently cost $9 (£6.87), come with white piped icing, and a depiction of a juggling Ronald McDonald on the front.

And we know what you're thinking... not everything on social media is real! How come you've never seen one IRL?

The cake is certainly odd, seeing as Ronald McDonald hasn't been a big part of Maccies' marketing since 2016.

And there has, indeed, been speculation that the cakes are but a fictional rumour, with TikToker @williejtheartist driving to his local branch and moaning about "lies and deceit" when he came back without one.

But the plot thickens. You see, another TikToker rung up Maccies head office and got confirmation that the cakes do exist.

An operator told them on the phone that they were sold out because of all the furore on TikTok. The powers of social media, ay!

To further prove the cakes were real, the website Snopes reached out to several Maccies restaurants, who explained the availability of the cakes depends on when the distributor sends stock over.

Apparently the cakes are sent out "directly from their local distribution centre for special occasions – like employee or customer birthdays, graduation ceremonies, or other celebrations."

Whether the cakes are available to the public or just the staff is up to the team.

"Some restaurants may choose to make the cakes available for customers to purchase, but this is the exception, not the rule. The cakes are not on the official menu and are not available at all locations," the HQ went on.

Sadly for UK customers like us (cry), McDonald's birthday cakes don't seem to be a thing over here.

Still, if anyone wants to make us one with a juggling Ronald on it, we're ready for a slice of nostalgia.
