Here is our Twisted guide to black-owned food businesses you can support in the UK.

This list is by no means exhaustive.

It will be continually updated with additional names as time goes on.

1. Andu Cafe

The country’s first entirely vegan Ethiopian restaurant, Andu Cafe has been a mainstay of the Dalston dining scene for several years.

The delicious, option-free menu is worth the trip to East London alone.

Available for takeaway.

2. Brooklyn Brownie Co.

Based in Northamptonshire, the Brooklyn Brownie Co. offers absurdly indulgent New York-style brownies across the UK.

Owned and operated by a father and son duo, the brownies are the ideal lockdown treat.

Delivering across the country.

3. Chuku’s

Serving innovative Nigerian tapas, Chuku’s has won acclaim for its inventive and delicious food.

Based in Tottenham, North London, the restaurant is a must-visit if you want a twist on traditional African cooking.

The eatery temporarily closed during lockdown but is now back up and running.

4. Dark Sugars

Specialising in novelty chocolate creations, Dark Sugars has dominated Brick Lane since 2013.

Come for the moreish dusty truffles and stay for rich and creamy hot chocolate.

5. Drums & Flats

Duo Khamisi and Daniel specialise in some of the tastiest wings London has to offer.

The business has been delivering next-level soul food since 2015.

Currently, it operates out of Box Park Wembley, Drums & Flats and is not to be missed if you’re in the area.

Currently offering deliveries on Saturdays.

6. The Good Store

Set up by two sisters in the heart of Edinburgh, The Good Store is a low-waste shop on a mission to make great food readily available to the masses.

Offering everything from pasta to top-quality tea, The Good Store is a great alternative to the supermarket.

It’s now open for click and collect.

7. Ikoyi

On a mission to elevate the traditional flavours of sub-Saharan Africa, Michelin-starred Ikoyi is an eating experience unlike any other.

Set up by childhood friends Jeremy Chan and Iré Hassan-Odukale, the food doesn’t come cheap – but it’s definitely delicious. 

Unfortunately, it’s currently closed but the team are operating an online e-shop.

8. Jamaican Valley

An extensive online emporium for Jamaican seasonings, spices, teas and recipes.

Jamaican Valley ships across the country, as well as to the United States.

If you’re into Jamaican food, make sure you check them out.

9. Jollof Box

The incredible Jollof Box specialises in on-the-go African cuisine.

Does the names sound familiar? That may be because it was the first African food business to appear on both Dragons Den and MasterChef.

Having recently left their Dalston premises, the business is currently on the hunt for a new location.

Delivering to NW11 postcodes through Uber Eats.

10.Uncle John’s Bakery

Often considered the first Ghanaian bakery in London, Uncle John Bakery has been a South Tottenham mainstay for years.

The extensive menu includes tasty Bofrot doughnuts and beloved Chin Chin breadsticks.

Currently offering a home delivery service.

11. Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen

A supper club, turned restaurant, turned community food campaign. 

Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen is currently working to provide hot meals to residents across East London.
