Ingredients

  • 400gpork sausage meat
  • 1 tbspginger paste
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbspgreen onions, finely chopped
  • 4 tbspsoy sauce
  • 3 tbspsesame oil
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1/4 white cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1 tbspcornstarch
  • thick-slice white bread
  • black and white sesame seeds

Never decide between your favourite Chinese sides again, with these irresistible pork gyoza inspired prawn toasts! They're made using pork sausage meat, all the flavours you expect from a pork dumpling, but served on golden crispy fried bread. Absolute heaven!

Method

  • Assemble all your ingredients, as this is very much a 'one bowl' affaire. Into your mixing bowl, add the sausage meat, followed by all the seasonings - ginger and garlic, our freshly chopped vegetables, our sauces and cornstarch. Give this a good mix, until completely combined and the mixture has become slightly sticky.
  • Onto some thickly sliced bread, spread on the dumpling mixture, in a thick but even layer.
  • Press the toast into some lightly toasted sesame seeds, meat side down, until the meat is completely covered.
  • In a pan of shallow oil, fry our dumpling toasts, first meat side down, for a few minutes, before flipping and frying until golden and crispy (another 2/3 minutes).
  • Cut these into triangles, place them on a sharing platter or large plate, with a pot of your favourite dipping sauce, and enjoy!
  • What do you think of the recipe?
