Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Celebrity Best Home Cook wouldn’t be complete without its suitably epic narrator.

Throughout the series, viewers have been able to enjoy dulcet descriptions of Ed Byrne struggling with a mushroom vol au vent. However, some viewers may be finding the familiarity of the voice slightly perturbing.

To help you truly settle in, here’s everything you need to know about the Celebrity Best Home Cook narrator.

Who did Mark Addy play in Game of Thrones?

In terms of his TV appearances to date, one role stands head and shoulders above the rest in Addy’s career.

Addy was cast as the king of Westeros, Robert Baratheon, in the HBO smash hit Game of Thrones. Although he only survived one series, he certainly left his mark on the saga.

In a 2019 interview with IGN, Addy revealed that fans are actually pretty reluctant to talk to him about his time on set. As he put it: “I think that because it’s become such a huge thing, people are quite shy of chatting for too long. They just kind of want to say hi, and that’s about it.

“People generally say, ‘I was disappointed when you died. Not as disappointed as me! I suppose the point is that Sean [Bean] and I both knew that we were on a limited run, and you make the most of that.”

What else has Mark Addy been in?

A veteran of both stage and screen, Addy has been acting since the late ’80s. In addition to his work on Celebrity Best Home Cook, Addy is arguably best known for his turns in flicks such as The Full Monty and A Knight’s Tale.

His performance in The Full Monty has been a particular career highlight. In fact, Addy was nominated in 1997 for both a BAFTA and a Satellite Award for best supporting actor.

The 57-year-old has also enjoyed a prolific TV career to date, featuring in shows such as The Thin Blue Line and Doctor Who. He has also had recurring roles on popular shows such as Trollied and Atlantis.

His appearance on Celebrity Best Home Cook is also not the first time that Addy has worked as a voice actor. In 2018, for instance, he played the role of Daelin Proudmoor in the video game World of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth.

With such an experienced practitioner at the helm, it seems that this year’s celebs are in safe hands.

When is the Celebrity Best Home Cook final?

The Celebrity Best Home Cook 2021 final is scheduled to take place on February 24th 2021

This year’s Celebrity Best Home Cook is following a slightly different format to most reality cooking shows. Episodes air twice weekly on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with repeats on the weekend.

There are only eight episodes in the current series, which suggests that – if everything sticks to schedule – the final two will be broadcast on Tuesday the 23rd and Wednesday the 24th respectively.

Already in the series, comedian Desiree Burch, ex-rugby pro Gareth Thomas and actor Ruth Madeley have bitten the dust. Who will make it to the final showdown remains to be seen.
